WOULD YOU RATHER? BIRTHDAY EDITION

Birthdays come around once every year and for most of us, we celebrate our birthdays every year with almost the same energy. These celebrations don’t necessarily translate into large parties or extravagant spending but the energy invested into that special day.

I consider myself a ‘birthdayzilla’😂. It’s almost impossible for my loved ones to forget my birthday because I start my countdown as early as a month before😈. As much as I love birthdays, I prefer to celebrate with just my close knit friends and family as opposed to having a birthday bash. Perhaps my parents contributed to this because growing up, we never had large parties. Birthdays = Food🥘🥘.

For a lot of celebrants, it’s that one day in a year when you get all the attention, love and care. It’s not like these things were lacking before your birthday, it’s mostly on overdrive that day. I also think that birthdays are a bigger deal to most people than they let on. Perhaps this could be a way to safeguard their hearts from disappointments which is totally understandable. Imagine my shock to hear that there are people among us who have never received birthday gifts as grown-ups😲. Let’s try and make our loved ones feel special whenever we can on their birthdays. No act is too small to create a lasting memory.

This brings me to our ‘Would You Rather? Birthday Edition scenario’. Let’s say hypothetically speaking that you were gifted an all-expense paid vacation for your birthday but you have to choose from the options below;

A. A fully funded trip to any glamorous city of your choice. This is by no means a regular trip. We are talking champagne lifestyle on a champagne budget 🥂. You get business class return flight ticket 🛫, concierge services all through the trip, an executive suite in a 5-star hotel with the best view of the city, full board, spa day💆 and you even get to tour the city in style. Here’s the kicker, you get to spend just 5 days on this trip and shopping is not allowed even though you are 5 minutes away from an array of the most popular high end stores in the world.

B. On the other hand, an all-expense paid trip to any Island resort of your choice 🏝. This trip is far less luxurious. It’s what our people call Fanta budget vacation 😩. Economy class return ticket, standard room accommodation in a four star hotel with a beach front. The only meal covered is daily breakfast. You will also slum it through immigration with the rest of us regular folks. No ‘dorime’ standard on this trip but you get to spend 10 days on this island and get $2000 🤑 to buy whatever you want. Keep in mind that all purchases must be made on the island and you can’t take home what’s left of the shopping allowance.
