CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. There are no traffic jams along the extra mile - Roger Staubach A BRIEF OTTAWA EXPERIENCE BY UGOCHUKWU I had been travelling a lot because of the nature of my previous job, but nothing prepared me for this trip. It was the trip of my life. I left the shores of Nigeria for the first time in 2017 to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Ottawa. To be honest, I was more relieved than excited to be leaving Nigeria. Relieved to be free of the stress and unfortunate-ness of Nigeria. My trip from Nigeria was quite uneventful but I arrived Ottawa at the peak of winter. Man, Canada is extremely cold during winter. It was really difficult in the beginning adjusting to the extremely cold weather but the pros outweighs the cons. Although I was quite busy with school, I still found time to explore my new community.  The first place I visited was the Ottawa recreational park close to the University of

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. The customer's perception is your reality- Kate Zabriskie My London Experience by Anita I had always thought about traveling to London in the summer and never in Winter or Fall, but the timing was never right to travel in Summer. When my Visa was issued and the only appropriate time to travel was Winter, I wasn’t quite sure how that would play out. In Massachusetts, we were getting about 6 inches of snow and I heard London was worse. Now, i knew I wasn’t going to enjoy my vacation, but I needed to go anyway. Getting to Heathrow Airport, the immigration officer was a little bit worried about me staying for Eleven days, but that was all I had planned for the trip. I got picked up by a friend and my accommodation was pretty amazing because I was staying with a friend. Day 2, It was time to start touring London. Good thing the weather wasn’t crazy, it was about 14 degrees Celsius, London had not seen sn

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless - Mother Theresa Living in the UK by Efosa I traveled to the United Kingdom to further my education but make no mistake, so far, it has not just been education going on. I have visited quite a few places since coming here. For the most part, the UK is not a top tourism destination like the Bahamas or Seychelles. However, for a rich experience of culture and history, the UK is the place to go.  So, I start off with my first visit to Northampton. It was still snowing here although it had stopped snowing in most other parts of the UK. I quickly ran outside and took pictures in the snow because as a proper Nigerian, I had never seen snow before. Northampton is a great town where everyone minds their business until they get to the Town Centre (the most interesting part of the town) and then everyone is a talkative. What struck me at first w

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE . "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?"- Martin Luther King, Jr Its summer in summer town by Tipcy Arow!!!! The trip to Canada (My one true country) and I think we can all agree on Canada being my country. Anyhoo, my journey started off with my flight from Abuja international airport. The airport looked so different and nice. I have got pictures to show you ;) Landed in Frankfurt airport in Germany after about 6 hours of flight time. I mostly sleep during flights (ikr so boring). Anyway the real journey had just started. The most unexpected thing happened in Germany. I bumped into my Queen’s college classmate. I mean what are the odds? We took some pictures for the gram. Journey to Canada It was a 9:55mins flight. The last time I did that was when I took a trip to the US (story for another day). Boarded the aircraft and it was pr

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. "The goal as a company is to have customer service that is not just the best but legendary" - Sam Walton My trip to Toronto by Nonso My journey started at Murtala Mohammed Int’l airport Lagos. As soon as I stepped down from my uber two young, friendly guys approached me and offered to help me carry my luggage (clue: it’s not free service). First we went through custom checks. Let’s just say there was more “handshaking” and less checking. Next stop was the check-in counter. Now you need to weigh all your luggage before you get in the queue because they wouldn’t check it in if it’s heavier than the limit. There are weighing scales right there that you can use for free.  While my “Good Samaritan” friends were helping me do all the weighing and moving around, they decided to gauge my travel experience. From our interaction, it was clear that I’m not a frequent traveler. Their eyes lit up. They started tell

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value".- Albert Einstein FROM DUBAI WITH LOVE by Loveth.. Traveling has always been something I enjoy doing a lot and I’ve done that a lot this year. However, the trip that stood out for this year was my trip to Dubai in the first half of this year. Just like every other frequent flyer, I am loyal to a particular airline (mine being Emirates) just because of my great experiences with them. So before any trip, I always ensure that I have secured my Emirates ticket prior to time because yes I love to plan ahead. This trip was the kind of trip you look forward to. It was my aunt’s 40th birthday and we were celebrating in a big way. Our flight was for 12.05pm but I checked in early with The Travel Fairy’s help and by 10.00am I was already seated at the airport. Our trip was quite uneventful and smooth. We arrived at our hotel ‘The Burj Khalifa’

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends - Walt Disney. Summer at Niagara Falls by Uche Omu ... Spent three days from this past summer at Niagara on the lake and Niagara falls itself. A lot of tours offer services to drive you around or you could find your way around yourself as it is quite easy and there are staff on hand at various points to assist. It was really pretty driving around the area. Lots of vineyards and views if you drive in either direction on Lake shore Drive. The 'historic' area has really cute shops, lots and lots of people walking around. I stayed in St. Catherine. It seems like there are fun bars in that downtown area, If you want to go for fine dining one night. Two Sisters is new as of last year and it's probably the best spot in the area right now. Winery with an amazing Italian restaurant with a great patio view over the vineyard.

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK 2019 – THE MAGIC OF SERVICE. “The last store where “We are too busy for your business” worked was in the “Closed Forever Store”- Liz Biodun Cromwell.  In celebration of this year’s customer service week, we at The Travel Fairy have decided to put the spotlight on some of our fabulous customers and readers because you light up our world. Starting off this Customer Series is the very beautiful, smart and huge supporter of our brand- Merit Ekeleme My South African Experience Barely a month of visa application we were called to come in for collection of our passports, super exciting huh? Apparently my colleague and I were scheduled for a training workshop and after waiting for what seemed like forever, our passports were released with 3 months visa/multiple entries. I packed my bag excitedly and got ready for my first trip outside Nigeria, as a matter of fact I left my apartment in Lekki and moved to Surulere a day before to
