Here comes 2022, the year of optimism…… by Diana Carol Bard once said ' Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending'. These were the words that woke me up from my slumber. I spent the major part of 2021 feeling sorry for myself. I honestly don’t know if there’s anyone else who felt the same way. Since the Covid-19 brouhaha, I feel like we’ve been stuck in an unending cycle. The never ending variants, travel bans here and there, total or partial lockdowns of different countries.  The travel industry was impacted heavily by covid-19 and many travel companies went out of business as a result of that. 2021 had its challenges but if there was anything else it had, it was hope. The hope that we will beat this virus eventually and we can live freely again. As we enter 2022, may we continue to keep that hope alive. May our faith never go weary and may 2022 be the year we have always dreamed of. With a heart full of grati

WELCOME TO A NEW DISPENSATION! I don’t know if you have been paying attention at all but it’s looking like before the year ends we will be just 5 young people left in this country (myself included)๐Ÿ˜ฉ. The number of young people that have relocated from Nigeria in the past month has been alarming. At a point, I began to wonder if there was an announcement somewhere that everyone should leave Nigeria and I did not hear about it. We even have an official 'japa' (relocation) announcement picture featuring the notable Sola Sobowale in a scene from King of Boys 2. Starting over in a new country is never an easy feat. You are most times leaving behind family, friends, businesses, investments and so on to start over in a new country. These countries may be where you are part of a minority with very different cultures than you are used to. So there’s that hurdle to tackle too. Even the financial aspect involved in relocation is no joke. Whether you are leaving Nigeria through study visa

A SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER..... "We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone" - Katie Thurmes. One of the best things about a photograph is the ability to relive a particular experience or memory just by looking at a mere picture. For some weird reason, September represents some sort of fresh start for me. It marks the beginning of a school year, it's the first 'ember' month and also the start of my favourite season (fall). This year just like the previous year has had it's many challenges. Covid-19 and its many variations, global financial crisis, civil and political unrests here and there. Sending love to everyone affected by one global crisis or the other. For many travellers, September marks the end of travel season. Summer holidays end and it's back to work/school/reality. However if you missed out on the summer vacations this year, travelling in September is just as fun (some might say even better). The beaches are less crowded, airfare

5 THINGS YOU MUST DO WHEN YOU ARE IN LAGOS by Diana. ‘Eko oni baje’ Welcome to the city that never sleeps. The Centre of Excellence. Personally, I have a love-hate relationship with Lagos ๐Ÿ˜‚. It can go from exciting to stressful in the blink of an eye. To be honest, that is what makes Lagos special. The unpredictability of this city that we all love so much is why it’s the most sought after place to live in Nigeria. I moved to Lagos in 2015 right after graduation from university with big dreams and high hopes. I thought that within 6 months of getting a job, I will be living the dream life. A car of my own, living in my beautiful, well furnished apartment. Shout out to Nollywood ๐Ÿ˜‚. To us back then, Lagos was where all the action was happening (well kind of). Lagosians never warn you about the bills that are about to hit you like a ton of bricks when you decide to relocate to Lagos. However, with all the ups and downs, moving to Lagos was the best decision I ever made. Now let’s get do

Baby Diana WOULD YOU RATHER? BIRTHDAY EDITION Birthdays come around once every year and for most of us, we celebrate our birthdays every year with almost the same energy. These celebrations don’t necessarily translate into large parties or extravagant spending but the energy invested into that special day. I consider myself a ‘birthdayzilla’๐Ÿ˜‚. It’s almost impossible for my loved ones to forget my birthday because I start my countdown as early as a month before๐Ÿ˜ˆ. As much as I love birthdays, I prefer to celebrate with just my close knit friends and family as opposed to having a birthday bash. Perhaps my parents contributed to this because growing up, we never had large parties. Birthdays = Food๐Ÿฅ˜๐Ÿฅ˜. For a lot of celebrants, it’s that one day in a year when you get all the attention, love and care. It’s not like these things were lacking before your birthday, it’s mostly on overdrive that day. I also think that birthdays are a bigger deal to most people than they let on. Perhaps this c

Common Travel Mistakes... Travelling is always an avenue for new discoveries whether you are a first time or renowned traveller. More often than not, hiccups can happen from time to time. This is why we have decided to highlight some of the most common mistakes travellers can make and ways which it can be avoided.   1.Not cross-checking your travel itinerary This can be one costly mistake. Failure to double-check the spelling of your name, passport number, date and place of birth on your visa and flight itinerary can cost you your entire trip should there be any mistake. This should be the first thing you check once you book that flight ticket. Make sure your name on your flight itinerary matches your name as it is on your passport and every other information is correct days before your trip. Any error can hence be corrected on time before your intended travel. 2.Over-packing Most of us are guilty of this. One of the most embarrassing things that can happen to you at th

SUMMER LOVING by Diana Just like Betty Williams said, ‘when all fails, take a vacation ’. If I could travel on a whim, I’d be the happiest person on planet earth. Being a summer baby, summer holidays are my favourite. I want to be basking in that summer glow that will last all year. Around this time last year, a summer vacation was the farthest thing from anyone’s mind. We were all literally fighting for our lives. What a difference a year can make. Borders are now finally opening up and although vacations nowadays come with some very necessary restrictions, we are just grateful to be able to go outside again. If you are a Nigerian citizen planning on going on a summer vacation this year, we ranked our top 5 vacation spots for 2021 in no particular order. image culled from IG -@visitmaldives Maldives This list cannot be complete without the beautiful island of Maldives. The Maldives has been open to tourists longer than most countries. Cast away in the turquoise waters of the Indian Oc
